The first essay I wrote for my African American Literature class; it examined the life of a former slave and examined why he himself would own slaves.
This was a short paper I wrote for my African American Literature class and later used it as the foundation for my thesis paper. In this essay I discuss the interactions between white and black masculinity and how it was, and is, a crucial part of understanding racist ideology.
Albeit short, this was my thesis paper in which I applied the ideas within my paper, Going to Meet the Man and the White Supremacist Obsession with Racial Purity, to more modern white supremacist movements.
As a final paper in my Women and Gender Studies class, we we tasked with examining a piece of media and how it related to the ideas of feminism. The crux of this essay was an attack on the misconceived notion that The Rocky Horror Picture Show is a "good" LGBT+ film. This film is a cult classic within the gay community, but as I believe my paper shows, it is deeply problematic and harmful.
